The USDA calls for four different labeling options under its proposed National Organic Standard:
- "100 percent Organic"
- "Organic" (at least 95 percent organic, allowing 5 percent natural synthetic ingredients)
- "Made with Organic" (listing up to three specific organic ingredients)for products conatining 50-95 percent organic ingredients
- For products containing less than 50 percent organic materials, organic items are listed on the "Ingredients" panel only-not on the principal display panel.
